Blue Drop – Episode 1

Oct 13 2007 Published by Mina under Blue Drop - Tenshi-tachi no Gikyoku

Short Summary:
In the first scene we can see a man and a woman sitting in an UN space shuttle. The man is worried but the woman says everything is going to be all right.
After the death of her parents Mari Wakatake lives with her grandmother who is worried she can’t take care of her grandchild anymore so Mari is sent to a boarding school for rich girls. She’s sad on the way in the car, till she recognizes a flock of sea gulls dashing through the sky to gather around a long haired girl on a rock in the water. Mari and the girl’s eyes meet before the car passes by. At school Mari is welcomed by the director and two teachers, but she behaves unpolite and axclusive and from the very beginning the older female teacher rebukes her. As today is a holiday the school building is almost empty so the director takes a look out of the window and calls the only pupil he can see nearby to guide Mari. The girl’s name is Kouzuki Michiko and she tries to show everything to the new pupil but Mari feels abandoned by her grandmother andwants to be alone so she runs away, by accident to her new classroom. Mari calms down and after she said goodbye to the butler who had brought her to school Michiko leads her to their dormitory. While Mari waits for the matron the girl from the rock in the sea – Senkouji Hagino – appears. Mari looks happy and greets her warmly but when the girls shake hands Hagino sees a vision of a big ship, flames and a crying younger version of Mari. Her eyes turn into a glowing blue and she tries to strangle the shocked Mari till she sees another vision of the crying, little girl. Hagino’s eyes return to their normal colour and she stares at her hands. Mari is angry and throws a bunch of flowers at the other girl who already killed her and when Michiko returns with the matron she leaves the room without saying “hello”. There’s no reason for her to stay at such a place any longer.
Michiko goes to look for her and when she finally finds Mari she tells her she was born in the nearby town and is the only girl at school who’s parents are not rich. The two return together to join the other girls living at the dormitory for dinner. Mari is introduced, but when Hagino as representative greets her Mari freaks out and a fight between a bunch of girls starts. In the end Mari ends up hungry and angry in her room. Late at night she’s still awake and recognizes Hagino sneaking out. She follows her to the harbor docks and out of the water appears a big ship or something that seems not to be from this world. Mari stumbles and is in a state of shock. Hagino’s eyes are glowing in the dark!

My opinion:
Blue Drop is what I use to call a very quiet show. The main focus lies on the characters and their relationships and I simply love that kind of series. This first episode starts of a bit slow paced just to get a fast kick when Hagino strangles Mari unexpectedly. The whole thing is spiced up with a slight science fiction touch and interesting but also loveable characters ( I’m already fond of Michiko who seems to a very good girl) so I’m pretty sure I will give this show in the fall season a go!

Mokke – Episode 1

Short Summary:
Shizuru is able to see things other people can’t see. Together with her little sister Mizuki, who gets easily posessed by demons and similar unnatural things, she lives at her grandparents’ house, because their grandfather knows a lot about demons.
It’s short befor the harvest full moon, so Mizuki is looking for the seven flowers of autumn, to make her granny happy, but so far she’s only found five of them. When she’s looking for the “ndeshiko” one afternoon a black shadow appears behind her and Mizuki can feel its presence but her sister comes to look for her and the shadow vanishes. Later the two sister look together for the missing flowers, when the shadow appears again in front of Mizuki till she collapses. Shizuru gets a last glimpse of the shadow and carries her unconscious sister home. She’s feeling sad, as she was not able to protect her, so her grandfather tells her she met a so called Mikoshi and that she has to overcome her fear.
The next day Mizuki is ill and supposed to be in bed. Instead Shizuru promises to search for the last flower, meanwhile they have found the “nadeshiko”. But of course Mizuki sneaks out of the house and goes looking for herself. When the sun is almost setting down she reaches a mountain pass her grandpa gave her a warning of, tsill she decides to run there and find the flower. By accident her older sister Shizuru sees her running up the hill, so she follows her just to arrive in time Mizuki collapses again in front of the giant shadow. First Shizuru is too afraid to act, but then she calms down and makes the Mikoshi vanish.
Mizuki opens her eyes and is happy to be alive and what a suprise, she finds the last flower. The siblings return home and talk about their worries, that they can’t rely on the help of their grandfather forever.
This night the whole family sits in front of the house and watches the full moon with the seven flowers of autumn next to them.

My opinion:
Though the story is supposed to be at least a bit scary I did not find myself worrying about Mizuki, it was clear Shizuru would come to help her and now I’m afraid every episode might have that pattern. A demon appears, the siblings have to overcome their fears and everything is fine.
I don’t want to sound to negative about “Mokke”, it’s cute and enterntaining after all, but I’m not sure about watching it 26 episodes.

Mushiuta – Episode 6

Short Summary:
Asami is late at school working for her club and updating her mushitsuki homepage, when her teacher appears. She’s asked for her dream and when the teacher touches her neck it seems Asami gets infected with a mushi herself.
The next day Rina oversleeps and when she wakes up Shiika has preapred a rather scary kind of breakfast. She finds out Rina attends the same high school as Daisuke and wants to come with her, but as it is better nobody sees her she stays at home. Still Shiika would love to go, so Rina takes her there in the afternoon and together with Rina’s friends they pretend to have class. Afterwards they go to a karaoke club and suddenly Shiika wants to contact Daisuke. She calls him and they promise to meet, she feels better then.
Both Rina, who’s drawing a picture, and Daisuke who’s looking for a ghost everybody tells rumours about, are lat at school. So is Asami who discovers her new ability to switch into the video films she’s taken with her camera. It’s astrange world within her camera with lots of pictures, bits and bytes.
The next morning Daisuke is absent froms chool so Rina visits him after class to see wether he’s okay. Daisuke has to think of his big sister because Rina resembles her. It’s obvious now Rina has fallen in love with Daisuke and late at night in bed she tells Shiika she’s found something besides sunsets she wants to draw.
In the last scene we see a blond haired girl/boy (?) on a high building who says: “I’m back Ouka-City!”

My opinion:
Can it be Rina’s class teacher is the strange woman from before or is she just another strange woman infecting people with mushis? Also Asami’s power to cruise her videos is strange, how different the mushitsukis’ abilities are.
I already feel sorry for Rina who’s by far my favourite character and has fallen in love with Daisuke who’s heart belongs to Shiika. In her eyes it’s love that keeps a host from being a monster, so what happens if she discovers her feelings are unanswered?

School Days – Episode 11

Short Summary:
Now that I’ve already seen the final episode I’m not very motivated to write a long summary, so let’s do it short:
Makoto screws a lot of girls, Sekai discoveres she’s pregnant and tells Makoto about it in front of all their classmates. makoto can’t understand why all girls seem to drop him afterwards and Katsura goes totally crazy, talking to her switched off cell phone the entire episode.
In the end Makoto and Kotonoha meet and he sees what he’s done to Katsura he loves her. It seems she returns to being normal after this confession.

My opinion:
This episode tops everything that has been there so far. Makoto is a male whore and sleeps with every girl, one time even with three girls at once. And now Sekai is pregnant and Katsura out of her mind.
I guess we are all waiting for a bloody end!
