Asatte no Houkou – Episode 1 – 3

Oct 26 2006 Published by Mina under Fall 2006

Opening: “Hikari no Kisetsu” by Suara
Short Summary:
Shouko and Hiro meet studying abroad in the United States of America. They fall in love, even live together. Suddenly Hiro gets a call and flys back to Japan. He promises to return soon, but after months of waiting Shouko receives a letter he will never return, because he has to take care for his little sister Karada.
Four years later Shouko and Karada meet each other at a little shrine with a stone thats supposed to fulfill wishes. Through his little sister Shouko remeets Hiro and gets into a fight with him. She can’t understand why she “lost” to his sister and says something that hurts Karada so much she wishes to be an adult fast. Again at the shrine the prophecy and so Karadas wish comes true…the only problem is Shouko turns into a child, although she did not wish for it and Karada has to cope with the fact she looks like an adolescent person, but her brain is still that of a young girl. She’s afraid of confessing to Hiro what happend, so she stays at Shouko’s flat and the two try to master the situation as good as they can.

My opinion:
Asatte no Houkou is different from other shows. Its quiet though not peaceful; J.C. Stuff did once again a beautiful animation job with backgrounds that look like watercolour. The tension between the characters was feelable from the start, even before the magical touch of Shouko and Karada’s transformation came in. While the childish Karada panics Shouko’s phlegmatic character is the strong opposite. Together they make an intersting couple. Spiced up with the background of Hiro and Shouko being lovers it gets even more interesting. But what interests me the most now, at the end of episode three is what consequences the revelation of Karada being not related by blood to Hiro will implicate. May it be he falls in love with her, who looks like a young woman now? Or will this be no topic at all because she’s only his little sister too him.
Will Shouko and Karada stay in their current form till the end of the show? How will Karada make it to go for work instead of Shouko and when will Hiro cut his hair? When his eyes fall ill with an inflammation I guess…

Red Garden – Episode 1

Opening: “Jolly Jolly” by JiLL-Decoy association
A likeable “makes me think of new york”-song, with a touch of swing!
The animation is just awesome fascinating, with it’s moving, laminar coloration.

Short Summary:
The story takes place in New York. There’s a strange case of five girls’ suicide. The day Liz is found as the next victim the four girls Kate, Rose, Claire and Rachel can’t remember what they did last night. They are attending the same rather strict school and know each other, although they are not friends. All of them are shocked after hearing about Liz dead – the girl was missing. Especially Kate is devastaed, it seems liz was her best friend. She walks around lonley and sad when suddenly butterflies appear. Only she and the other three mentioned girls can see them and meet accidentaly. All four notice they can’t remember anything about last night, when a ugly woman and a guy appear to tell them they actually died last night. Of course they are in a state of shock, but the situation gets even worse when a man in a suit starts to run towards them and the woman wants them to kill him.

My opinion:
Lika most of the time I was not informed what this show is going to be about…so when the opening started I was prepared for some girl clothes shopping hip anime and not for something intriguing like that! Damn, taht show rocks from the first second till the last. You are confrontated with a thrilling plot with many secrets and an awesome cliffhanger at the end.
The animation is experimental, in some scenes too two-dimensional for my taste, but still interesting. Also the character design stands out from everything I’ve seen so far, closest may be Gilgamesh. I haven’t decided wether I like all of the noses yet, bus Rose’s is very cute ^^
The only thing really out of place was Kate’s little musical song…is this a Disney movie, or what?

Ending: “Rock The LM.C” by LM.C
The ending animation is like the rest of the show suprising and totally rocks. Go and watch it yourself!

Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na ~ Crescent Love ~ – Episode 1 – 2

Opening: “Prelude -We are not alone-” by Fumi Ootou
The opening is a nice, melodic song underlined by piano and strings. Actually I already like it a lot!

Short Summary:
In near future there will be other humans living on moon, more or less isolated in their own kingdom. Relations between earth and moon are not always too good, so the princess of the lunar kingdom takes part in a homestay on earth. The older sister of Asagiri Tatsuya and his little sister Mai works as a press speaker in politics and so it comes Feena Fam Earthlight will stay at the at the Asagiri house, together with her maid Mia Clementis. She also brings her own photograph to make a report on her stay.
Tatsuya falls in love with the beautiful princess at first sight, but the other family members and friends also give the guests a warm welcome.

My opinion:
I’m always fast with the label “harem anime”, especially as I don’t like harem shows too much, but after watching two episodes of Crescent Love I have to admit besides a bunch of cute girls this will be more a kind of love comedy. From the start it’s clear the love story of the series will focus on Tatsuya and Feena; so far there are no hints his sister might have a brother complex or that his childhood friend from the neighbouring house may be in love with him. Tatsuya is intelligent and not the standard looser guy. Of course there are still enough clich

Death Note – Episode 1

Oct 08 2006 Published by Mina under Fall 2006

Opening: “The World” by Nightmare
The rock song fits the show perfectly. Animations is a bit too milky for my taste. Interesting is the focus on the theme of the apple, which returns in the show and the ending.

Short Summary:
Light Yagami is a top student and totally bored by his life and the rotten world, full of murder and crime. Ryuuku is a Shinigami and totally bored by his life and the rotten Shinigami world. So he decides to drop his death note in the human world. It’s Light who picks it up.
On the first page he finds the rules for the book. If you write down the name of a person who’s face you think of in that moment, that person will die. IF you don’t write down the cause of death it will be a heart attack. Light can’t belief this could work but he tries it with the name of a criminal. Within 40 seconds the villain dies. After a second try the functionality is confirmed. At first Light has got some qualms, but after he reminds himself of the rotten world he hates so much he starts to kill off people.
Five days later Ryuuku visits him. light is not afraid, actually he waited for the Shinigami and gets to now he won’t be punished for his crimes. So he makes up his mind to cleanse the world from all evil, criminal, ill-natured people and sees himself as a god of a new world he will create.

My opinion:
A pretty cool first episode. The story is interesting and meets one of the most interesting questions that exists: If I was able to kill everybody with just writing down a word, would I do it? Who would I kill? Could I live with the consequences?
The atmosphere is dark and very depressiv, emphasized with gloomy colours and a monumental soundtrack. I’m definitly hooked for at least some more episodes, but there are going to be 37 episodes…that’s a lot!

Ending: “Aluminia” by Nightmare
The first seconds I had to think of musical sound, but than the song changes. I can’t say much about it so far, it’s okay. Have to hear it more often, I guess. I’m very fond of the animation sequence. They are playing a lot with the colours black/white, blue and again the red. I will have to watch the show only to learn what’s the meaning of the apple!

The revolution took place…

Oct 07 2006 Published by Mina under Misc. Posts

Today I proudly present the new face of the KAKUMEI . ANIME BLOG. I no longer wanted to see the place left and rotting and it’s one of my problems I can’t post entries, when I’m not pleased with the design.
This one’s very clean, simple and cute now, I just love it. A back to basics blog, not loaded with unneccesary information, pics and links. The blogroll had to leave the frontpage, but don’t be afraid, you are all still in there and I just signed up at animenano.com to overcome my animesuki trauma, get new readers and make old friends come back!
I never thought it could really, really happen to me, because when I start something I plan to finish it sooner or later but there are so many shows now I havn’t finished so far and perhaps never will…
So there will be a harsh clean up this time and big hello to the new season…which means I have to stop here. I’m going to cook myself a plate of pasta and watch Kanon! See you after it ^_~ Bye-bye!
