Friend / Tears / I'm Home / Scream / Kirameki

After the first two episodes again I stopped watching Shigofumi for a while. Though I was sold on the idea of the show I didn't like the thought of an episodic strucuture. I did not await such a brilliant storyline where everything comes together in episode 7. You get to know the different characters and their relations to each other. It makes me think about death a lot and I love the character of Fumika's father. While he's eccentric you could kill him yourself, but then he turns into a child that sees the world with a loving heart and have to think he's simply gorgeous.

Rocket

I swear, had I known the characters for more episodes I would have cried like a little baby.

As the name of the show Shigofumi ~stories of the last letter~ hints there are several stories, which makes the series an episodic one. After only two episodes we are through with Shouta and Ayase's story and it's been incredible. While I was so damn angry after episode one why Shouta had to get killed by the girl he likes, I forgot there are always two sides of one coin and several truths. This time I felt so sorry for her, sexual abuse is the worst and just not picked out as a central theme often enough.

Confession

So, who's talking about School Days anymore, if you can have Shigofumi!? This really must have been one of the very, very best first episodes I've ever seen. Animation and especially soundtrack are beautiful and the character design makes the protagonists so loveable. And that's what you do, you love Shouta and Ayase, the more shocking it is how the show developes within even only one episode. I can't belive I watched so many other winter season shows while Shigofumi was already there, waiting to be watched and loved.
